This year Elena Sergeevna Kurakina has been awarded the V. P. Dzhelepov Scholarship. The Group of Scientific Communication asked Elena Kurakina about her work, experiments and plans for the upcoming scholarship year.
Today, on 27 February 2025, Alena Sergeevna Yakhnenko has successfully defended her dissertation at Vavilov Institute of General Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The topic of her work was “Comparative analysis of intraspecific and interspecific genetic differentiation of Baikal sponges (Porifera: Spongillida)”.
At the 137th session of the JINR Scientific Council, held in the House of International Meetings on 13–14 February 2025, it was decided to award the annual JINR prizes for theoretical research works, experimental research works, methodological and technical research works, and applied technical research works. The staff members of our laboratory were awarded two second prizes and one third prize.
Today, on 13 February 2025, a ceremonial launch of the LINAC-200 linear accelerator, a new basic facility of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, has taken place.

Today, on 12 February 2025, a test run of the electron beam with the energy of 25 MeV has been successfully done at the LINAC-200 linear accelerator. Tomorrow, the opening ceremony of the new basic facility of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems will be held by the members of the Scientific Council and JINR Directorate.

In December 2024, Jeanne Laberrigue-Frolow, the oldest physicist, one of the founders of the Laboratory of Nuclear Physics and High Energy (LPNHE) in Paris, passed away. In 1958, she came to Dubna where she spent 8 months working in the group of Bruno Pontecorvo at the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems. Today, on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, let us look back at history and recall this wonderful woman.

We are pleased to announce the XVII Baksan School on Astroparticle Physics "Particles and Cosmology," jointly organized by INR RAS and JINR, taking place April 3–11, 2025 at the Smile Hotel in the Elbrus National Park.
