On November 6, 2025, a delegation from the Embassy of Japan in the Russian Federation, headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Akira Muto, visited JINR. At the meeting the prospects for cooperation between Japanese scientific centres and JINR were discussed.
Sergey Nikolaevich Dolya, a senior researcher of the Department of New Accelerators at the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, became the author of a patent for the invention "Method for obtaining neutrons using a pulsed neutron generator".
Today, October 30, 2025, marks the 70th birthday of Yuri Aleksandrovich Kulchitsky, Doctor of Sciences (Physics and Mathematics), Head of Sector No. 1 in the Department of Multiple Hadron Processes of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems.
XXIX International Scientific Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists (AYSS-2025) is taking place from October 27 to 31, 2025, at the Laboratory of Information Technologies of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. About two dozens young scientists and specialists from the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems are participating in the conference.

On 22 October 2025, the first results of multi-year work on joint analysis of data obtained within the NOvA and T2K experiments were published in Nature, one of the most respected journals in the world. The staff members of the Department of Particle Physics of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems (DPP DLNP) made a significant contribution to this analysis and preparation of the publication.
Today, on 20 October 2025, the researcher of the DLNP Department of Multiple Hadron Processes, doctor of sciences (physics and mathematics) professor Gennady Ivanovich Lykasov.
Kseniia Belokopytova, Aleksei Agapov, and Gennady Mitsyn, staff members of the Sector of Radiation Medicine and Biology of the Department of New Accelerators at the JINR Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, and Oleg Valerievich Belov, a colleague from the JINR Laboratory of High Energy Physics, became authors of the patent for the invention "Device for cooling biological samples."
From September 15 to 19, 2025, the All-Russian Conference with International Participation "Genetics. Evolution. Radioecology" was held in Ekaterinburg. Anna Vladimirovna Rzyanina, a staff member of the JINR Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, delivered a report at the conference.
From September 15 to 19, 2025, the XXIX International Conference "Russian Particle Accelerators Conference RuPAC'25" was held in Saint-Petersburg. The conference was organized by JSC "D. V. Efremov Scientific Research Institute of Electrophysical Apparatus" of the State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom". Staff members of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems presented sectional and poster reports.
From September 8 to 13, 2025, the International research-to-practice conference "Physicotechnical Problems in Science, Industry, and Medicine" was held in Tomsk, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Physics and Technology at TPU. Staff members of the DLNP JINR, Alexey Nikolaevich Trifonov and Sergey Leonidovich Yakovenko, presented reports at the conference.

Nikolai Sergeevich Borisov began working at JINR in 1966, after graduating from Moscow State University. During his time at the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, Nikolai Sergeevich became a highly qualified word-class scientific researcher, capable of independently solving complex scientific-methodological and technical tasks in the field of developing and creating state-of-the-art nuclear research equipment – polarized proton and deuteron targets of "frozen" type.
A delegation from the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP), led by Director General Song Yuntao, visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research on 7-8 October 2025. Representatives of the Chinese research center familiarized themselves with the JINR infrastructure and discussed issues of developing scientific and technical cooperation with their colleagues from Dubna.
