Congratulations to Zoya Marlenovna Karpova on her birthday!
After graduating from Altai State University in 1979, Z. M. Karpova worked at the Baksan Neutrino Observatory, where she studied cosmic rays using a scintillation telescope, a muon detector, and a neutrino monitor. Based on the results of this work, she defended her candidate dissertation in 2008.
Since 2007, Zoya Marlenovna has been working at the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems at JINR and contributing to the activities of a group of researchers engaged in physical studies at the ATLAS experiment (CERN). Notably, with her active involvement, papers have been published on the search for new Z' bosons in decays to top-quark pairs, the search for observable manifestations of supersymmetry, and the search for quantum black holes in the lepton+jet channel. Z. M. Karpova has made significant contributions to work related to the current operation of the ATLAS detector, including monitoring the muon system's performance, calibrating calorimeters, and more.
In addition to her scientific achievements, Zoya Marlenovna has a passion for creative writing; since 2014, she has been writing fascinating books in the genre of science fiction.
We wholeheartedly wish Zoya Marlenovna Karpova good health, success in work, and family happiness!
In March 2023, as part of the "Charming Science" project, the DLNP Group of Scientific Communications conducted an interview with Zoya Marlenovna, which you can read on our website: https://dlnp.jinr.ru/news/2216
