A new position-sensitive method of dividing plates for recording a single-mode laser beam displacement has been experimentally investigated.
It was shown that the sensitivity of the method when recording a laser beam with a diameter of 8.8 µm reaches 0.18 µm-1 with a zone of possible linear displacements limited by the nonlinearity of 1%, equal to 2.4 µm. The achievable measurement accuracy, limited by the ADC noise, was ± 30 rm.

Application of the method of dividing plates allows implementing a Precision Laser Inclinometer with reduced overall dimensions of 20 × 20 × 20 cm and up to 10 kg in weight.
