Alexey Krasnoperov "Precision inclinometers based on position-sensitive methods for detecting laser beam displacement"

The operation of the Precision Laser Inclinometer (PLI) is based on recording the reflection of a laser beam from a horizontal liquid surface perpendicular to the gravitational acceleration vector. Measuring the spatial displacements of the reflected beam allows for a high-precision estimation of the angular oscillations of the surface on which the PLI is installed.

Three types of inclinometers have been developed at DLNP JINR depending on the method of detecting laser beam displacement: using quadrant photodetector, divider plates, and video-matrix based method of estimating beam centre coordinates. the operating principles of these inclinometers and provides an overview of the recording electronics, data acquisition systems, setup, alignment, and calibration.

The inclinometers created have been successfully tested and are currently operating in the Garni Geophysical Observatory (GGO, Armenia), in the European Gravitational Observatory (EGO,Italy), in the The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN, Geneva), the Naroch Geophysical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (CGM NAS Belarus), Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the experimental hall of the NICA accelerator complex (JINR).
