Baikal Neutrino Telescope: conclusion of the summer season and preparations for winter
The summer expedition at the shore station of the Baikal Neutrino Detector is coming to an end. The work was primarily aimed at preparing the mechanisms and ice equipment for the upcoming winter expedition to deploy new clusters of the Baikal-GVD Neutrino Telescope.
Planned work to improve the shore-based power supply system of the telescope has been fully completed, and the shore computing centre has also been reorganized. Life at the station is becoming more comfortable: a new modern canteen has been constructed at 106 km. Sites have been prepared for further expansion of the residential infrastructure.
Technical preparations for the upcoming season are also complete: the ice-cutting equipment and the system for laying the bottom cable, rated for two clusters, have been upgraded. All deployment tools have been brought into working order and are awaiting the start of the winter expedition.
