Congratulations to Igor Zhitnikov on the successful defense of the candidate dissertation!
Today, on 10 February 2026, Igor Viktorovich has successfully defended his dissertation at the meeting of the Dissertation Council of DLNP JINR. The topic of his work was “Investigation of antineutrinos at short distances from a nuclear reactor in the DANSS experiment”. Igor Zhitnikov defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate of scientists (physics and mathematics) in specialty 1.3.15, physics of atomic nuclei and elementary particles, high energy physics.
The aim of the dissertation was to study the fluxes and energy distributions of reactor antineutrinos at short distances from the VVER-1000 reactor at the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant in order to search for sterile neutrino oscillations and to diagnose the operation of the nuclear reactor.
We sincerely congratulate Igor Viktorovich on the successful defense of his candidate dissertation! We wish him further scientific achievements and creative success!
