Scientists from the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems took part in the anniversary Saratov Fall Meeting

Scientists from the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems have participated in the anniversary Saratov Fall Meeting that has been taking place in Saratov on 21–25 September. The 30th anniversary conference is devoted to the latest advances in the field of optics, laser physics and biophotonics.

Saratov Fall Meeting is an important international scientific platform that brings together specialists who work at the interface of optics, physics, biology, and medicine. The conference discusses modern methods for studying biological tissues and developing diagnostic equipment, including fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM), optical coherence tomography (OCT), photoacoustic imaging, diffuse optics, spectroscopy, laser technologies, optical diagnostics and treatment, nanobiophotonics, and other topics. Special attention is paid to the development of non-invasive methods for studying biological tissues and the creation of new optical systems for medical applications.

The chairman of the 2026 Saratov Fall Meeting is Valery Vikotorovich Tuchin, doctor of sciences (physics and mathematics), corresponding member of the RAS, one of the main specialists in the field of biophotonics and biological tissue optics.

Vladislav Sharov, junior researcher of the Department of Particle Physics, became a representative of our laboratory and delivered a report “Time-Domain NIRS system for Deep Tissue Probing”. The report presented the results of the studies conducted at DLNP JINR within the topic 07-2-A002 “Development of the systems measuring deep tissue oxygenation using Time-Domain Diffuse Optics (TD-DO)”.

The TD-DO system under development is designed at non-invasive investigation of deep tissues and measurement of their oxygenation using short laser impulses and photon time-of-flight detection.

During the discussion of the report, new scientific contacts were established, and proposals for cooperation were received regarding the development and application of the equipment designed in the laboratory.

Participation in SFM-2026 provided an opportunity to present the developments of DLNP JINR to the international scientific community and to expand research connections in the field of modern biophotonics.
