Interview with Aleksandr Antoshkin, winner of the JINR Prize for Young Scientists and Specialists in 2025
– Please tell us a little about yourself: in which departments of DLNP JINR do you work, what are the areas of your scientific/work interest?
I am working as a junior researcher in the Department of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems. The scope of my scientific and work interests is the search for magnetic monopoles and the study of the properties of liquid scintillators.
– For which work was the prize awarded? Who nominated you for the prize? Please tell us a little about your scientific and work plans for this year.
The prize was awarded for the results of the search for magnetic monopoles using the far detector of the NOvA experiment. I gave a presentation at the AYSS-2025 conference, where my report was recognized as the best first at the section level, and then based on the competition results, I passed to the second round, where I also became the winner.
Currently, I am writing two articles: on the results of the magnetic monopole search and on the study of scintillator properties (the Birks’ coefficient and Cherenkov light). I hope to complete work on my dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Sciences (Physics and Mathematics) this year.
