XXVI Baikal International Summer School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics started!
This year, undergraduate and postgraduate students came from Russia, China, and Belarus. Young scientists from Irkutsk, Vladivostok, Dubna, Kazan, Moscow, and Saint-Petersburg represent Russia. An extensive programme awaits the researchers: lectures on general relativity, Standard Model, multi-messenger astronomy, neutrino physics, quantum electrodynamics, supernova physics, and nuclear physics. In addition to lectures, the program includes intensive discussions, problem-solving sessions guided by research supervisors, and student presentations. As part of the extracurricular program, a traditional excursion to Mount Skriper and swimming in Lake Baikal will take place.
The lecturers of the school are:
- Dmitry Gorbunov (INR RAS) Cosmology
- Dmitry Naumov (JINR) Introduction to Particle Physics
- Sergey Troitsky (INR RAS) Stars and new physics
- Grigory Safronov (INR RAS) UHE Neutrino Telescopes
- Emil T. Akhmedov (MIPT, ITEP) Gravity, Black Holes and all that
- Andrey Sheshukov (JINR) Simulation Software
- Liangjian Wen (IHEP, China) Prospects of neutrino physics
- Junting Huang (SJTU, China) Introduction to dark matter
- Zhi-zhong XING (IHEP, China) Origin of neutrino mass and mixing
- Yandex ML
- Anatael Cabrera (CNRS / Université Paris-Saclay) Neutrino detection methods: from ultra-low to ultra-high energies
- Dmitry Karlovets (ITMO) Vortex states
- Maxim Barkov (INASAN) How to make jets fast, powerful and variable
- Evgeny Derishev (IAP) Radiation and particle acceleration processes in relativistic outflows
- Elena Nokhrina (MIPT, ITEP) Magnetic fields in AGN jets

For the reference
The Baikal International Summer School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics was established jointly by Irkutsk State University and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna) under a cooperation agreement. The main objective of the School is to educate and train undergraduate and graduate students, as well as young scientists, in contemporary aspects of particle physics and astrophysics by leading theoretical and experimental physicists. It also aims to facilitate networking and help young specialists choose their research directions. For the second consecutive year, the school has received sponsorship from the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "Scientific and Methodological Center 'Teach-in'". The school is held annually in the small, picturesque village of Bolshie Koty on the shores of Lake Baikal.
