Winner of 2025 Bruno Pontecorvo Prize announced
By the decision of the International Jury, approved by the JINR Scientific Council, the 2025 Bruno Pontecorvo Prize was awarded to Mikhail Shaposhnikov, Professor at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland), for the development of theoretical and phenomenological aspects of the neutrino Minimal Standard Model stimulating its further experimental tests.
The Bruno Pontecorvo Prize is an international award conferred annually by the Scientific Council of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research for achievements in the field of particle physics.
The Prize was established by the Joint Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in 1995 to commemorate Professor Pontecorvo, pioneering Soviet-Italian physicist known for his work on the slowing down of neutrons and their capture by atomic nuclei, neutrino physics, weak interactions, nuclear isomerism, and astrophysics.
