Congratulations to Yuri Aleksandrovich Kulchitsky on his 70th birthday!
Yuri Aleksandrovich began his work at JINR in 1978, after graduating from Belarusian State University, initially as a seconded staff member from the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and since 1994 – as a JINR staff member.
Yuri Aleksandrovich is a highly qualified physicist, distinguished by his great erudition and creative activity. He is the author and co-author of more than 1400 scientific publications. His works in the field of high-energy experimental physics are widely known, particularly his research on the production of neutral kaons in hadron-nucleus interactions using the Hyperon setup, the development of new methods for precision hadron calorimetry at ultra-high energies for use in the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, and the study of Bose-Einstein correlations which led to the discovery of the saturation of the particle source radius at high multiplicities of charged hadrons. While continuing his work on the ATLAS experiment, Yuri Aleksandrovich is now also actively involved in preparations for the SPD experiment at the NICA collider and an ambitious experiment at the future electron-positron collider in China.
Series of works performed with the leading participation of Yu. A. Kulchitsky have been recognized three times with JINR prizes in competitions for scientific works. In 2011, as part of an authoring team, Yuri Aleksandrovich became a laureate of the prestigious Academician F. I. Fedorov Prize, awarded by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
Since 2002, Yu. A. Kulchitsky has been the head of the group of JINR staff members from the Republic of Belarus. He makes an important contribution to engaging Belarusian scientists in joint work with JINR and to strengthening the international cooperation of the institute.
We sincerely congratulate Yuri Aleksandrovich on his birthday and wish him good health, happiness, and new achievements in science!
