The absorption of stopped negative pions in133Cs,93Nb and45Sc has been investigated by means of activation technique. The gamma ray spectra of the obtained activities have been measured with a Ge(Li)-spectrometer. The yields of residual radioactive isotopes have been determined. In addition, the yield of the reaction133Cs(π−,p)132I has been determined to be (2.0±0.8) ×10−5 per stopped pion. Isomeric yield ratios have been deduced for the isomeric pairs86m, gY and87m, gY. On the basis of the obtained results absorption mechanisms are discussed.
