Why the Scientist Should Educate
Mark Shirchenko, a senior researcher of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, one of the translators of the sitcom “The Big Bang Theory”, took part in the workshop of the Polytechnic Museum “Mediation: Interaction with a Visitor, Science Communication”.
Mark spoke about the necessity of science popularization in Russia, why and how to communicate science to a wide audience, and also shared his personal educating experience.
At the end of his talk, Mark Shirchenko recommended to the audience two books worth reading − “The Death of Expertise: The Campaign against Established Knowledge and Why It Matters” by Tom Nichols and “Explaining Science: Guide for Popular Science Writers” by Igor Ivanov.
