Congratulations to Nikolay Kravchuk on his 75th birthday!
In 1974 N. P. Kravchuk graduated from MEPhi with a speciality "Experimental Nuclear Physics" and he has been working at JINR since then.
In 1974 N. P. Kravchuk graduated from MEPhi with a speciality "Experimental Nuclear Physics" and he has been working at JINR since then. In 1991, he successfully defended the dissertation and became a candidate of sciences (physics and mathematics). Since 1993 N. P. Kravchuk has been working as a senior researcher, and in 1997 he received the academic title of senior researcher.
Concerning his scientific activities at the laboratory, the main achievements of N. P. Kravchuk include exploration of new directions in the particle detector development, research and production of the unique detectors – cylindrical multi-wire chambers and new GEM beam detectors, studying of new operating mode of radiation counter tube with a negative voltage on the wire.
Nikolay Petrovich was responsible for the detector part of the ARES spectrometer (JINR). Then he participated in production of similar chambers for the following facilities: SINDRUM, MACS, and PIBETA/PEN. He also took part in conducting experiments at these facilities at PSI. Simultaneously he was working at the experiment on searching for muonium-to-antimuonium transition at the MACS facility in the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems. All of these studies have produced world-class results, which are included in the Particle Data Group tables. He later participated in the creation of muon identifier chambers for the E865 (BNL), D0 (FNAL) and COMPASS, NA58 (CERN) experiments.
In recent years N. P. Kravchuk's scientific work has been connected with creating of unique drift chambers for the MEG and MEG-II facilities and conducting experiments at these facilities at PSI, and also developing new particle detectors for future experiments.
During his work, Nikolay Petrovich was awarded the "Winner of the Socialist Competition of 1980" badge, the silver medal of the USSR Exhibition of Economic Achievements, the medal "In Commemmoration of the 850th Anniversary of Moscow", and the "Veteran of Nuclear Energy and Industry" badge of distinction in labor. He received the JINR Incentive Prize (1995) and the JINR First Prize (2005) in the institute's scientific paper competitions.
We sincerely congratulate Nikolay Petrovich on his birthday and wish him good health, prosperity and creative success!
