Vladimir Sergeevich Kurbatov turned 85!

The senior researcher of the Department of Colliding Beams of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems Vladimir Sergeevich Kurbatov turned 85 on 26 August 2025.

Vladimir Sergeevich started his career path in our laboratory right after graduating Moscow Engineering Physics Institute in 1963.

At the beginning of his professional path he took an active part in the programs on studying rare decays of mesons K+K^{+}K+ using xenon bubble chamber, participated in the preparation of the project of liquid-hydrogen bubble chamber for studying neutrino interactions. From 1969 to 1975 he studied reactions π−p→π0π0n{\pi}^{-}p \to {\pi}^{0} {\pi}^{0} nπ−p→π0π0n at the energy of 447 MeV. The result of this research became the candidate dissertation "Reactions π−p→π0π0n{\pi}^{-}p \to {\pi}^{0} {\pi}^{0} nπ−p→π0π0n at the energy of 447 MeV and analysis of the reactions ππ→ππn\pi \pi \to \pi \pi nππ→ππn taking into consideration the contribution of a triangular diagram". He also took part in the creation, commissioning and conducting first experiments within the JINR-IHEP programme "Neutrino Detector". Vladimir Kurbatov led the international group of specialists responsible for the creation, maintenance and development of the material support of the information system for monitoring the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Since 2019 V. Kurbatov has been actively participating in the SPD programme at the NICA collider that is under construction.

Vladimir Sergeevich is a co-author of the large number of scientific articles and reports. He is an enterprising physicist, highly-experienced specialist in the field of experimental data processing.

We sincerely congratulate Vladimir Kurbatov on his 85th birthday and wish him good health and creative success!
