Bulgaria

The Republic of Bulgaria (until 1992 The People's Republic of Bulgaria) became a part of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research on the day the organization was created, 26 March 1956. Tsvetan Dimitrov Vylov, a well-known Bulgarian scientist, Doctor of Sciences (Physics and Mathematics), professor, became the director of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems in 1988 and was a Vice-Director of JINR during the most difficult time for JINR from 1992 to 2005. Nowadays the Republic of Bulgaria is one of the main Member States by its contribution to JINR activities, number of joint investigations and amount of scientific and technical ties.
