Baikal Summer School
Today, the lectures "Introduction to Particle Physics" by Dmitry Naumov (JINR) and "Origin of neutrino mass and mixing" by Zhi-zhong Xing (IHEP, China) continued. The discussion of the prospects of neutrino physics with Liangjian Wen (IHEP, China) and dark matter with Junting Huang (SJTU, China) began.

Today the first lectures, student presentations, questions, and discussions took place. Dmitry Naumov (DLNP, JINR) opened the school with the first part of a lecture titled "Introduction to Particle Physics". Zhi-zhong Xing (IHEP, China) then took the floor with a lecture on "Origin of neutrino mass and mixing (Part I)", followed by Dmitry Gorbunov (INR RAS), who delivered two consecutive lectures on cosmology.

XXVI Baikal International Summer School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics started!
Today, the 26th Baikal International Summer School on on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics began its work. The school will be taking place in the village of Bolshie Koty, Irkutsk Region, at the Baikal Biological Station of Irkutsk State University (ISU) until 18 July 2026.

The International School of Subnuclear Physics was held in Erice, Italy, from 14 to 23 June 2026. This year 11 people presented Russia, among which there were four JINR staff members. Based on the results of the competitions held annually at the school, Aleksandra Ivanova, a trainee researcher at the DLNP Department of Nuclear Physics, received a diploma for the best experimental poster and the Bruno Pontecorvo Diploma as the school's best student.

Yesterday, on 10 June 2026, $\mathit{Nature}$ published the first results of the JUNO (Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory) international neutrino experiment. The photograph of the JUNO detector on the cover of the journal issue emphasizes the significance of this result for modern neutrino physics. A team of fifty JINR physicists and engineers is actively participating in the experiment.

On 28 May 2026, Atom Media published the article about completion of fabrication and successful factory tests of the magnet conductor of the MSC-230 medical superconducting cyclotron developed by NIIEFA JSC (an enterprise of Rosatom State Corporation) for the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR, Dubna).

From 1 to 5 June 2026, the Baikal-GVD Collaboration Meeting is taking place at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in a hybrid format. Participants are discussing updates on the deep underwater Baikal Neutrino Telescope and summarising the 2026 winter Baikal expedition results.

Physicists from the ATLAS collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider (CERN) have announced the discovery of a new particle, vector $B_{c}^{*+}$ meson, which is a new excited state containing charm quark and bottom antiquark. The new particle manifests itself as a pronounced peak in the distribution of mass difference between vector and ground states. The statistical significance of the peak exceeds 8 standard deviations.
