Laureates of the 2026 JINR Prize announced

At the 139th session of the JINR Scientific Council, held in the House of International Meetings on 19–20 February 2025, it was decided to award the annual JINR prizes for theoretical research results, experimental research results, methodology, research and technology results, and for applied research and technology results. The staff members of our laboratory were awarded three second prizes.

Ayagoz Baimukhanova became DLNP Deputy Director for Science

At the 139th session of the JINR Scientific Council,on 19 February 2026, elections were held for a new DLNP Deputy Director for Sciences. Ayagoz Baimukhanova, Assistant Director for International Cooperation, Innovation and Education Programmes, was elected to the post.

Another expedition to deploy Baikal Neutrino Telescope began

On February 17, 2026, another expedition started on Lake Baikal to construct the Baikal-GVD deep-water neutrino telescope of cubic kilometer scale.

Today, on 10 February 2026, Igor Viktorovich has successfully defended his dissertation at the meeting of the Dissertation Council of DLNP JINR. The topic of his work was “Investigation of antineutrinos at short distances from a nuclear reactor in the DANSS experiment”. Igor Zhitnikov defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate of scientists (physics and mathematics) in specialty 1.3.15, physics of atomic nuclei and elementary particles, high energy physics.

Today, on 3 February 2026, Yuri Ivanovich Davydov has successfully defended his dissertation at the meeting of the Dissertation Council of DLNP JINR. The topic of his work was “Development of precision wire detectors and creation of a facility for studying muon decays”.

Hackathon on developing modelling software package for Baikal-GVD held

Last week, a hackathon on the development of a modelling software package for the Baikal-GVD experiment took place at the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems.

Development by Russian physicists will improve the performance of particle accelerators

The Russian news agency TASS published an article about Russian scientists from ITMO University and JINR Laboratory of Nuclear Problems who suggested the method that allows determining degree and direction of "twisting" of electron and ion beams.
