At the International Conference on High-Energy Physics 2026, the BESIII collaboration presented compelling evidence for the existence of a glueball, sought by the scientific community for more than 50 years. After fifteen years of sustained research, the BESIII Collaboration identified that the dominant constituent of the X(2370) is a pseudoscalar glueball with spin-parity quantum numbers of 0⁻⁺. The 26th Baikal International Summer School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics was held in the village of Bolshie Koty, Irkutsk Region, at the Baikal Biological Station of Irkutsk State University (ISU) from 11 to 18 July 2026. The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and Irkutsk State University are organizers of the school.

Today was the last day of the 26th Baikal International Summer School, the day when the participants come back home with new knowledge, new friends and new memories; with their bags heavy with not only souvenirs, but also overwhelming emotions; with notebooks full of lecture summaries and ideas; with a poignant feeling that seems to be the beginning, not the end…

Today was the last lecture day. In the morning Maxim Barkov (INASAN) told “How to make jets fast, powerful and variable”, and Elena Nokhrina told about “Magnetic fields in AGN jets”. Two parts of the lecture “Radiation and particle acceleration processes in relativistic outflows” were delivered by Evgeny Derishev (IAP RAS) before and after lunch.

Before lunch, School participants continued with three lectures, the first parts of which were held yesterday: "Gravity, Black Holes and all that" by Emil T. Akhmedov (MIPT, ITEP), "Stars and New Physics" by Sergey Troitsky (INR RAS), and "UHE Neutrino Telescopes" by Grigory Safronov (INR RAS). After lunch, a lecture "Vortex states" was given by Dmitry Karlovets (ITMO University). The students together with their mentors are continuing to work on group projects.

The lecture day began with the first part of "Simulation Software" by Andrey Sheshukov (DLNP JINR) and continued with discussions on the prospects of neutrino physics with Liangjian Wen (IHEP) and dark matter with Junting Huang (SJTU). After lunch, Andrey Sheshukov delivered the second part of the lecture on simulation.

Today, the lectures "Introduction to Particle Physics" by Dmitry Naumov (JINR) and "Origin of neutrino mass and mixing" by Zhi-zhong Xing (IHEP, China) continued. The discussion of the prospects of neutrino physics with Liangjian Wen (IHEP, China) and dark matter with Junting Huang (SJTU, China) began.

Today the first lectures, student presentations, questions, and discussions took place. Dmitry Naumov (DLNP, JINR) opened the school with the first part of a lecture titled "Introduction to Particle Physics". Zhi-zhong Xing (IHEP, China) then took the floor with a lecture on "Origin of neutrino mass and mixing (Part I)", followed by Dmitry Gorbunov (INR RAS), who delivered two consecutive lectures on cosmology.

XXVI Baikal International Summer School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics started!
Today, the 26th Baikal International Summer School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics began its work. The school will be taking place in the village of Bolshie Koty, Irkutsk Region, at the Baikal Biological Station of Irkutsk State University (ISU) until 18 July 2026.

The seventh issue of the international electronic scientific journal Natural Science Review has published an article by A. R. Didenko, I. V. Eletskikh, and A. O. Gridin, researchers at the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, titled "Classification of muon tracks from charmonium decays and pion tracks in the model of the SPD detector using neural networks".
