The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is an international intergovernmental organization, a
scientific centre, unique for the integration of fundamental theoretical and experimental
research with development and application of the cutting-edge technology and university
education.
Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems of Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (DLNP JINR) is
located in Dubna (Russia), 120 km on north from Moscow.
DLNP was one of two laboratories which formed JINR in 1956
Many distinguished scientists worked in our laboratory from its foundation date back to late
forties of the last century till now.
DLNP JINR is a multidisciplinary institution with a wide research program mainly focused on
neutrino, astroparticle and high energy physics. Its neutrino program is the largest and most
diversified. The Laboratory’s more than 650 scientists, engineers and support staff every year
are joined by an increasing number of visiting researchers from around the world.
Today the main goal of DLNP JINR is a construction of cubic kilometer neutrino telescope in lake
Baikal - Baikal gigaton volume detector (Baikal GVD).
