On 14-15 July 2020, the workshop “Low Energy Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics” will take place in Milan. In this workshop, the status of the art, both from theoretical and experimental point of view, of the neutrino physics including solar, reactor, geo-, accelerator, low energy neutrinos, will be explored and, to complete the present state, the astrophysical limits and determinations on the neutrino properties will also be discussed.
This workshop is also organized in conjunction with the release of the first experimental detection of the CNO cycle reached by Borexino. This evidence is very important because it is a validation of the astrophysical hypothesis that CNO is the primary channel for hydrogen burning in stars more massive than the Sun, and is in fact the primary channel for hydrogen burning in the Universe. This discovery completes the Borexino program, having measured all the neutrino spectra produced by the nuclear reactions of the pp cycle, which produces 99% of solar energy, and now the residual 1% represented by the CNO cycle.
The workshop will be held at the University of Milan, July 14-15, 2020.
