“Optimization of the Structure of a Heterogeneous Scintillator for Thermal Neutron Detection” by Ilya Zimin
- Details
- Category: Seminars
At the seminar, the results of simulation and optimization of a composite scintillator for thermal neutron detection were presented. The interaction of thermal neutrons and gamma quanta with composites was simulated. The composites consist of glass scintillator particles, containing 6Li, arranged in an organic matrix. The purpose of these studies was to determine the structure of a composite with high sensitivity to thermal neutrons and efficient reduction of gamma signals. The simulation identified optimal structural parameters of the composite, such as grain size and glass concentration. The simulation results demonstrate that the optimized composites can provide under thermal neutron irradiation the neutron detection efficiency of at least 50% with the gamma rejection of about 10-7.

Seminars on the Results of the First Run of the Muon g-2 Experiment
- Details
- Category: News
The Muon g-2 collaboration is performing at Fermilab (USA) an experiment on precision measurement of the anomalous muon magnetic moment ?_? = (g - 2) / 2. To date, ?_? has been most precisely measured in the E821 experiment at Brookhaven (USA), which led to a 3.7-sigma standard deviation from the theoretical prediction of the Standard Model. This long-standing discrepancy is one of the most intriguing hints at New Physics. The results of processing of the data gained during RUN1 in the Muon g-2 experiment will be presented for the first time at the seminars at Fermilab and CERN.
“Range (Muon) Systems for the PANDA and SPD Experiments” by Georgy Golovanov
- Details
- Category: Seminars
The Range (Muon) System is one of the essential detectors of the PANDA and SPD experimental setups, which are currently under preparation at the HESR/FAIR and NICA/JINR accelerators. The Range (Muon) System provides efficient identification of muons and also can be used as a coarse hadronic calorimeter. Design and geometry modeling of the Range (Muon) Systems are presented as well as the latest results of the Range System Prototype tests.
«The T2K and HyperKamiokande Experiments with the Upgraded Near Neutrino Detector ND280» by Yury Kudenko (INR RAS)
- Details
- Category: Seminars
This report briefly describes the status, results and perspectives of T2K and HyperKamiokande, the long-baseline experiments. An emphasis is put on the upgraded near neutrino detector ND280, its physics program and importance for oscillation measurements. The recent progress and prospects in search of CP violation and measurements of the CP violating phase in neutrino oscillations in current and future accelerator experiments are also discussed.
