"μSR-Study of a Ferrofluid with the 3% Concentration of \(CoFe_2O_4\) Nanoparticles" by Viktor Duginov
- Details
- Category: Seminars
A ferrofluid based on magnetic nanoparticles of CoFe2O4 molecules dispersed in H2O with the nanoparticle concentration of 3% is studied using the μSR method. The structure and magnetization of the ferrofluid depends on its viscosity. At room temperature (290 K) and the external magnetic field of 527 Gs the observed additional magnetization is ~20 Gs.
"Gamma Quantum Yield from Nuclear Fusion Reactions in Muonic Molecules \(pt\mu\) and \(pd\mu\)" by Dmitry Demin
- Details
- Category: Seminars
The gamma-quantum yield from nuclear fusion reactions resulting from different spin states of the muonic molecules ??? and ??? has been measured. The muon sticking coefficient in the channel of the pt-fusion with a single gamma-quantum yield is experimentally determined. The fusion reaction channels with the yield of the double gamma-quanta ??? → 4He? + ? + ?, ??? → 3He? + ? + ? are observed for the first time.
MIPT–JINR Partnership to Give a New Impetus to Biotechnology Research

On 17 December 2020, a unique X-ray microtomograph MARS upgraded at the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, JINR, was delivered to the Nanobiotechnology Lab at the Phystech School of Biological and Medical Physics (PSBMP), Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), in Dolgoprudny for carrying out biological and medical research. This could be a beginning of a new significant research collaboration resting upon a common instrumental basis. “This partnership is beneficial for all, which is often the case in the scientific community,” comments Denis Kuz’min, PSBMP Director.

Now we have good news! Educational videos “BAIKAL-GVD. Neutrino Hunters” introduced by Academician of RAS G. V. Trubnikov on behalf of JINR were awarded the third Prize in the category “The Best Popular Science Video Series”!
The European Physical Journal C Highlighted the Paper of the Borexino Collaboration with the Cover Illustration

- Category: Новости науки
In the November issue of the European physical journal EPJ C, a paper of the Borexino collaboration was published about detector sensitivity to CNO neutrinos with respect to the strategy which sets limits on two main backgrounds in measurements—neutrinos from the pp chain and bismuth-210 decay events in scintillator. Considering a neutrino flux predicted by one of the standard models of the Sun, Borexino was sensitive to CNO neutrinos during the 1000-day exposure at the level of above 3σ. With the same considerations, the precision of the CNO-neutrino flux measurement is 23% with a restriction on the rate of bismuth-210 event counting at the level of 1.5 events a day for 100 t of scintillator. For upcoming experiments with a higher precision of the CNO-neutrino flux measurement, the probability was evaluated to identify a more reliable model of the Sun, of high or low metallicity. This article complements the one recently published in Nature.
