I congratulate you on the 62nd anniversary of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research!
We celebrate this event summing up the milestones of the 25-year stage of modern JINR development that is connected with political and economic changes in the USSR and some other JINR Member States. This process opened “a new era” of JINR international status development. In 2018, this 25-year jubilee will be celebrated on merit. In February, at the meeting of the JINR Scientific Council, we reported on numerous significant results in the main fields acquired during the past year that have been presupposed by the Seven-Year Plan.
Project “Precision laser metrology for accelerators and detector complexes” prolonged for the period of 2019–2021
At the session of the DLNP Science and Technology Council held on 15 March 2018 a decision was made to prolong the project “Precision laser metrology for accelerators and detector complexes” for the period of 2019–2021. The authors of the project achieved record parameters of the measuring complex developed for metrological support of modern colliders and large detector complexes.
In the first section of the project it is proposed to create a NETWORK of six JINR Precision Laser Inclinometers for visualizing variations in the landscape under the effect of the propagating surface seismic waves. The resulting data on the deformation of the Earth surface will be used by the feedback control system to correct online the operating parameters of the collider and stabilize spatial positions of the beam focuses in the collision zone.
Laureates are invited to the next session of the Scientific Council for the award ceremony and reports about their scientific achievements.
On behalf of the JINR Directorate, I congratulate all female staff members of JINR, the Dubna State University, scientific and educational institutions of our city and all women in Dubna on the International Women’s Day – the 8 March!
Our wonderful women working in the fields of science, management, production make a great contribution to establishment and development of scientific and educational programmes of JINR, strengthening of international scientific and technological cooperation. It is a pleasure for me to express my cordial gratitude for your conscientious labour for the benefit of JINR and Dubna. Dear women, I wish you good health, joy, prosperity and spring mood!
May the 8th March never end for you, our dear and respected women. Day after day, year after year, we will never stop to please and surprise you, to give you warmth and our love!
Academician Victor Matveev,
Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research
The jury decision on awarding 2017 JINR Prizes for scientific, scientific-methodological, and scientific-technological applied researches was presented at the session of the Scientific Council.
An Encouraging Prize was awarded to V.A. Morozov (DLNP), N.V. Morozova (DLNP), and V.B. Zlokazov (LIT) for the series of works “Determination of scintillator decay time and study of spatial correlation of nuclear radiation by the autocorrelation method”.
